Critique evening – Use of Light
This is a critique evening with an external assessor, who has given us a theme much looser than we’ve had before – ‘Use of Light’.
It allows for a lot of creativity, where the subject is of your choice and the (unnamed and very experienced) assessor will be judging how well, how creatively, how interestingly, you have used the light.
In order to develop our recent trailling of Awards vs Discussion we have decided to inform assessors of what we are promoting, but to choose for themselves which system they would prefer to use. Here is the reply we’ve received for this evening:
“I would like to chat through the images and invite the audience to voice their opinions too. This would have to depend on time versus number of entries, of course. I would also like to ask the photographer to comment if they are comfortable with that.
We look forward to seeing your pictures.

Deadline Images should be submitted by midnight, Sunday 15 February.
General Practicalities
The images will be shown as digital projected images (DPI).
Your images may be colour or black & white.
Preparing your images
- The file must be in JPEG format with a 3 character file extension of .jpg
- The maximum width allowed is 1920 pixels (px).
- The maximum height allowed is 1080px.
- The minimum width and height allowed is 900px.
- The maximum file size is 1MB.
- Colour Space set to sRGB
File Naming – Name the file with the image title
Please ensure the name you enter on the upload form matches the name of your file.
