David Gibson, writer and photographer, has taken street photographs for nearly thirty-five years.
His work has been widely published and exhibited, including Bystander: A History of Street Photography (2017) by Joel Meyerowitz and Colin Westerbeck. Some of his photographs are in the permanent collections of The Museum of London and the Museum of the City of New York.
He is the author of three books: The Street Photographer’s Manual (2014), 100 Great Street Photographs (2017), and Street Photography: A History in 100 Iconic Images (2019). The Street Photographer’s Manual is an international bestseller and has been translated into eight languages.
David has also taught street photography workshops in London and other cities worldwide. Recent workshops have included Madrid, New York and, most recently, Istanbul for the Istanbul Street Photo Festival. In 2023, he was the Artist in Residence for Eyes on Main Street in Wilson, North Carolina.
