Jon Welsh is a UK-based professional photographer with over 30 years of experience in the industry. After early training in Art and Graphic Design, Jon worked as a Graphic Designer in the Art Department of the feature film Running Brave, produced in Canada in the 1980s.
He says of this evening’s talk:
“Over the last five years I’ve been working in Brighton, making images for an upcoming book. The talk traces my photographic journey from my early work in Mexico through to my current Fine Art Documentary practice. I’ll be showing images that reflect a shift from commissioned work in Advertising, Music and Publishing, to a more personal exploration of the Street and the Sea.”
Jon’s photography career took shape in the mid-1980s when he assisted leading Advertising Photographers in London, gaining expertise in large format film techniques. This foundation led to a highly successful career across the Advertising, Publishing, and Editorial sectors.
He has delivered high-profile commercial work for clients such as:
-
Royal Navy Recruitment
-
Sony Playstation
-
Motel Rocks
-
AA Publishing
-
Visit Britain
-
And various other blue-chip companies
Jon’s strengths lie in visual storytelling, technically refined imagery, and adaptable creative solutions for brand, editorial, and campaign work.
His personal work spans Landscape, Travel, Abstract, Street, and Documentary photography. He continues to explore new themes and visual approaches in long-term, self-initiated projects.
